The Institute of Higher Technology constituting the foundation of EMU is established in 1979. The Institute of Higher Technology starts providing education with the Departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering offering 3-year programs to 105 students with the aim of educating an intermediate workforce between an engineer and a technician.
EMU has been offering quality education through 105 undergraduate and school programmes and 108 postgraduate and doctoral degree programmes provided by 12 faculties, 3 schools and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.
A wide range of graduate programmes leading to Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are offered coordinated and administered by the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at EMU. These programmes are hosted and managed by the departments in the faculties and schools of the university. The Institute is responsible for overseeing, processing and coordinating matters concerning graduate admissions, assistantships, thesis proposals and defences, supervisions, and examinations, subject to the by-laws of the University and the regulations lay down by the University Senate.

i am satisfied about my studying in that university as it met my values and needs.
I have recently been admitted to the M.S. in Physics (with Thesis) program at Eastern Mediterranean University and will begin my studies in the upcoming academic year. Although I have not started classes yet, my experience with the application process has been positive. The admissions staff have been responsive and supportive throughout the process. I chose this program because of my strong interest in physics research and my desire to continue my academic development in a research-oriented environment. I am particularly interested in gaining advanced knowledge, participating in research projects, and preparing for future doctoral studies. I look forward to becoming part of the academic community at EMU and contributing to the university through my studies and research activities. The EMU International Promotion Office has the mission of promoting EMU and intaking international students who can meet the academic educational criteria practiced at EMU. In addition, the IPO has the mission of enhancing student exchange activities between EMU and its partner universities.

The library aims to support teaching/instruction and research activities at our university, to meet students’ and faculty members’ needs for information in their academic programs and scientific research, and to contribute to improved access to information for the whole EMU community and the larger public.
The aim of the Health Center is to protect the physical and mental health of students and academic staff, to treat patients and especially contribute students in taking care of their mental and physical health as conscious individuals, to provide emergency and outpatient treatment services in order to reach the aims mentioned above.
Eastern Mediterranean University works hard to provide a socially rich atmosphere for its students with the intention of supporting the extracurricular life of the students as well. Students take part in a variety of activities, and benefit from the social and cultural opportunities offered by the university and the community.
Students of EMU benefit from a wide variety of sports facilities. A modern stadium with a capacity of 5,000 seats, tartan athletics track, cardio center, spinning and TRX halls and an open area of 66,500 m2 for sports and closed sports complex with a capacity of 3,500 seats are only some of the facilities from which students can benefit.
Every student in the university may join the clubs and/or they can form a club according to their interests. In this way, students can improve their social, cultural and occupational skills, gain the skill of expressing themselves more efficiently, take part in club organizations, either theirs or other clubs’, and attend the club activities.
The Social and Cultural Activity Directorate organizes activities during the year to reinforce students’ social and cultural needs. These activities also serve as an interactive bridge between the local community and the university.
EMU is a full member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, Community of Mediterranean Universities and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. Giving special importance to international recognition, EMU has received the accreditation of various prominent international accrediting bodies. EMU is only one of five universities in the region to have been awarded the prestigious ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the field of engineering.
