Morris Library is the main library for the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus. The library holds more than 2.6 million volumes, 36,000 current periodicals and serials, and over 3.6 million microform units. Morris Library also provides access to the statewide automated library system and to an array of electronic sources.
The highly dedicated staff is committed to providing our students with the highest quality of medical and mental health care possible; not only by treating physical health problems, but also by preventing disease and promoting wellness.
The physical beauty of the region is a major attraction to students, faculty and visitors. Sixty miles to the south of Carbondale is the historic confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, the two forming the border of the southern tip of Illinois. Situated within 10 miles of the campus are two state parks, the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and four large recreational lakes. Much of the area is a part of the 240,000-acre Shawnee National Forest.
Any student who has a great love for alternative sports (e.g. fencing, badminton, boxing, or fishing) and/or a desire for healthy competition should get involved in a sport club. Sport clubs at SIUC offer students the chance to participate in an extracurricular activity, to develop their leadership and teamwork skills, and to find an interest that may not have been offered in their particular high school.
There are opportunities for students to participate in over 300 registered student organizations! SIU has everything from student government, public interest groups, fraternities and sororities, publication and media groups, scholastic and professional honorary societies, departmental clubs, special interest groups, religious organizations, and sports and recreation clubs. If you have an interest, we have a student organization for you!
It was a great experience. Especially seeing how strong teacher student relationship is here as compared to back home, Ghana.
