Rev. Samuel Carrick served as its first president, forming the first academic programs from the seminary courses once taught from his home.

This limitation resulted in having to take only two courses (physics and calculus) during my first year and having to work almost 40 hours a week to pay for the costs of tuition and my living expenses.
