About
History
The University of Padova was established in 1222, after a group of students and teachers decided to come here from Bologna. They set up a free body of scholars, who were grouped according to their place of origin into nationes, in which students approved statutes, elected the rettore (rector, or chancellor) and chose their teachers, who were paid with money the students collected.
Education
Courses at the University of Padova are constantly updated in order to meet the ever-changing needs of the labour market. Its Healthcare degrees, for instance, cover a wide range of new courses such as Pediatric Nursing (Medical School), or Neuroscience and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation (Psychology). Engineering degree programmes are available in the fields of Civil, Architectural, Environmental, Industrial and Information Engineering.
University of Padova degrees also reflect today’s needs to safeguard both the environment with courses in Environmental Sciences and Technology (Agriculture Sciences), and consumers with Safety and Hygiene of Food Products (Veterinary Medicine).

- ESU halls of residence: ESU provides accommodation for about 1600 students from outside Padova in its 14 halls of residence, which are situated in the city centre or near to the university buildings. Four university guesthouses are also available for short term stays.
- Private colleges: The University of Padova signed multiple agreements with some private colleges in order to reserve some places for international students. Each college applies different prices and conditions and includes different services
- All students can search for private accommodation on HousingAnywhere, an international housing platform for students, PhD candidates and trainees.
Library services

- The TEAM card makes the holder eligible for urgent and necessary health care, with direct access to the health care structures.

Student Life
Sports facilities
People who do sports stay fit, and help their studies too: this is the main concern of the Padova University Sports Centre (CUS), the most extensive sports facility in the province, which offers many opportunities to take part in sports, competitive and amateur alike, at the two structures located in Via Giordano Bruno and Via Jacopo Corrado.
The Centre is open to students, to all employees of the University and, under certain conditions, to ordinary members of the public as well.
In addition to services for payment, there are "no pay" activities for which the Centre makes its facilities available free of charge to users during set time slots, typically the track and field arena, 5-aside football pitch etc.
Student clubs
The University of Padova Alumni Association, in concert with the University and inspired by the motto Universa Universis Patavina Libertas, seeks to unite all UniPD graduates of whatever age, background, position and location within a community to which all may have freedom of access and equal consideration.
In this way, former students — Alumni — can continue to be inspired in their professional and private lives by the fundamental values of the University, becoming standard bearers wherever they may be.
