Overview

A significant focus of the Medical Biotechnologies programme at the University of Padua is on bioinformatic tools, equipping students with essential skills for modern biotechnology research and applications. While practical training in laboratory techniques remains an important component, the curriculum balances hands-on experience with cutting-edge approaches used in the field.

A course delivered entirely in English and with an international scope that teaches how to use biotechnology methodologies and instrumentation, also through practical laboratory experience, for the purpose of prevention, diagnosis and therapy of human diseases. You will deal with the relationships between structure and function of biomolecules and biosystems operating at the cellular, tissue and human body levels in physiological and pathological conditions and, after graduating, you will be able to work in the freelance profession as a biotechnologist and biotechnologist but also in private companies, as a specialist in advanced instrumentation in research and diagnostics and in analysis laboratories or research.

They can pursue roles as research laboratory leaders and project coordinators in areas of biotechnology applied to human health, with a particular focus on pharmaceutical products and vaccine development. Their comprehensive training, which includes strong bioinformatic skills, enables them to navigate the ethical, technical, and legal complexities of the field. These professionals can collaborate effectively with medical practitioners, supporting both diagnostic processes and therapeutic interventions involving the manipulation of cells, genes, and other biosystems.
