Duquesne University was founded in 1878 by a group of Catholic missionaries also known as the Spiritans. From humble beginnings as a school for the children of Pittsburgh's poor immigrants, Duquesne today is an educational and economic powerhouse comprising nine schools of study that serves nearly 10,000 students.

Duquesne has nine schools offering degree programs at the baccalaureate, professional, masters and doctoral levels. Students attain a first-rate education, building close relationships with professors and participating in exciting research projects and internships.

The Duquesne difference in research is that each faculty member is expected to be a great teacher as well as an outstanding scholar. But, driven by their commitment to add to the world’s collective knowledge, much of Duquesne’s research is intended to have impact in communities near the University as well as around the world, like:

  • Improving health care in Côte d’Ivoire
  • Monitoring local environments
  • Promoting care of the disabled in Africa
  • Establishing professional development for health care providers in Poland and Tanzania.
  • Collecting oral histories
  • Examining corporate sustainability challenges
  • Developing new anti-tumor cancer drugs that are not toxic to patients and other pioneering treatments.

Whether just beginning college or approaching graduation, the Career Services Center can help you explore majors and careers, seek internships and develop professional and job search skills. The center is also here to help you prepare for future success either in assisting with your job search or by pursuing advanced degrees.
