California State University, San Bernardino is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in Inland Southern California. Opened in 1965 and set at the foothills of the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains, the university serves more than 20,000 students each year and graduates about 4,000 students annually.

About

History

California State University, San Bernardino was born on April 29, 1960, when legislation was enacted to found San Bernardino-Riverside State College. The California State College system’s board of trustees selected a 430-acre site in north San Bernardino in 1963 to build the campus, and the college’s official name was changed to California State College at San Bernardino.

Housing services

Living on campus is one of the easiest ways to become involved at CSUSB. The Villages offers on-campus housing for students in three residential environments: Serrano Village, Arrowhead Village and University Village. Living on campus is a significant part of the CSUSB experience for approximately 1,500 students.

California State University, San Bernardino is located on 430 acres at the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. We are a medium-sized university featuring a contemporary setting, small classes, modern and well-equipped labs and facilities, strong support services and close faculty contact.

Sports facilities

The intercollegiate athletics program at Cal State San Bernardino is an NCAA Division II program with seven women’s sports – basketball, soccer, cross-country, softball, water polo, volleyball and tennis – and four men’s sports – basketball, soccer, golf and baseball.

Accreditation

  • California State University, San Bernardino is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the official accrediting body for institutions of higher learning in the West. The teaching credential programs are approved by the California State Board of Education, California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
