In 1927, Little Rock Junior College opened to provide college-level courses to central Arkansas citizens who wanted and needed access to higher education. In its first year, “Jaycee” – as students would soon refer to the new college – met at Little Rock Senior High School and enrolled approximately 100 students paying five dollars per semester hour for the college’s two-year liberal arts program.
Coursework blends critical thinking with real-world experience, providing a springboard for internships and later careers in such in-demand fields as nursing, engineering, data quality, criminal justice, and education.
Whether it’s building a better tomato or looking into cancer treatments, students get an opportunity to work alongside faculty and put their knowledge to use in UA Little Rock’s state-of-the-art research facilities. Additionally, they are tackling big data for businesses and curating historical collections for the world to see.

The purpose of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Campus Recreation is to provide opportunities for a diversified population to recreate, exercise, and socialize through variety of programs. Fitness & Wellness Classes– Offers approximately thirty (30) group exercise classes, personal programming, personal training, incentive programs, personal assessments, and CPR/First Aid classes during the academic year.

The vice chancellor of student affairs is responsible for student life on campus and has delegated the responsibility for coordinating and implementing non-academic university policies and regulations affecting student life, student organizations, and student activities to various offices. Student organizations are responsible and governed by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Behavior (Code).
UA Little Rock Rock was recently reaffirmed for accreditation on the Open Pathway by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC is a regional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
The Mechanical Engineering study program is rich of both lecture and applied courses to help better understand the concepts of mechanics and apply them into real life operations. Professors are qualified and well-prepared for the given courses.
