About

History

Founded in 1834, Wake Forest University is a private university located in Winston-Salem, N.C., with over 8,000 students from 48 states and 46 countries. We are a vibrant and diverse academic community where our students study in one or more of the 42 majors and programs we offer within our six colleges and schools.

Education

We are a vibrant department where students are prepared to become teachers and leaders in 21st century educational environments. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs including coursework and extensive experiences in K-12 schools.

Research

Wake Forest Research Fellowships (WFRF) are designed to provide students with the opportunity to participate in intensive scholarship under the mentorship of a Wake Forest University faculty member across the summer months.  Applications must be written by the student (see the link to the form, below), though it is expected that the content of the project will evolve from conversations between the student and the faculty mentor.

Career

Regardless of your major, the skill sets you gain at Wake Forest allow you to pursue a wide range of career opportunities. The first step in thinking about your future career options is to learn more about the career fields that interest you. Below, you will find information on 26 different career fields complete with industry overviews, positions types and helpful resources. After exploring possible career fields, consider making an appointment with a career counselor to learn how to gain experience in that field through informational interviews and internships.

Every year, English majors and minors throw parties, stage philanthropic events, host scholars and creative writers, and sponsor campus-wide lectures, films, and readings.  ESA also organizes an annual “Careers Day” and a “Grad School Application Workshop.” There are no dues, and all majors and minors are considered “members” of the club.

Accreditation

The Wake Forest University Counseling Department programs are accredited by the Council of Accreditation for Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
