Description
The Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a full time PhD at NTU. The premier scholarship granted by NTU's President, recognizing PhD students who exemplify exceptional academic, research and leadership qualities.
Benefits
The award is tenable for one year in the first instance and is renewable subject to good progress. The maximum period of the Scholarship is 4 years for PhD candidates, as determined by school as well as availability of research funding in each case.
Monthly Stipend:
Singapore Citizen: S$5,300
Singapore Permanent Resident: S$4,800
International Student: S$4,300
Other Allowances
Overseas Conference Allowance: Up to S$5,000 per financial year
Book Allowance: Annual grant of S$500
IT Allowance: One time allowance of S$1,500
Thesis Allowance: One time allowance of S$600
Eligibility
- All nationalities are eligible for the scholarship.
- An Honours (Highest Distinction) or equivalent at Bachelor's level.
- Candidates who have not yet completed their undergraduate degree must provide official documentation from their university confirming they are on track to graduate with an Honours (Highest Distinction) degree or equivalent.

The application for Academic Year 2026-2027 will open from 3 November to 31 December.
For application to National Institute of Education (NIE), please be informed that the application period is from 1 October to 28 November. You may apply directly via NIE's website from 1 October.
This scholarship is by nomination only. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and be evaluated by the University as part of the selection process.
