History

Founded in 1947, we are the premier public comprehensive university in the heart of Los Angeles. We have produced nationally and internationally recognized leaders in fields that include business and industry, visual and performing arts, athletics, science and technology, government, and higher education. At Cal State LA we are pushing boundaries, and creating new opportunities.

Education

Our academic programs will prepare you to meet the challenges of today’s world, find your place in it and have an impact. We cover nearly every field, from business to the arts, education to engineering, and science to nursing.

Research

The Office of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (ORSCA), a unit in the Division of Academic Affairs, provides research development support services to the university community. ORSCA helps Principal Investigators identify external funding opportunities, and provides assistance at every stage of proposal development.

To ensure the highest conformity with University and Federal policies, ORSCA provides support and guidance for compliance issues related to the use of human subjects and animal subjects in research, conflicts of interest, and research misconduct.

Career

The mission of the Career Development Center is to empower students to make enlightened career decisions throughout the lifespan; to connect them with employers; and provide skills to successfully obtain employment in a rapidly changing, complex, and competitive world.
