Since its inception in 1977, Qatar University (QU) continues to serve as Qatar’s primary institution of higher education and has become today a beacon of academic and research excellence in the region.

QU hosts twelve colleges -- College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Business and Economics (CBE), College of Education (CED), College of Engineering (CENG), College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Law (LAWC), College of Medicine (CMED), College of Pharmacy (CPH), College of Sharia and Islamic Studies (CSIS) , College of Dental Medicine (CDM), College of Sport Sciences and College of Nursing.
As a premier national institution, QU continuously invests and participates in studies which further science and society. As both a leader in emerging gas technologies and an environmentally-conscious institution, QU’s autonomous research units strive to make an impact on a global scale. The University plans to utilize its findings to amass an intellectual reservoir that will establish a strong knowledge-based economy in Qatar.

Qatar University Library (QUL) provides high quality information services to members of the QU Community, its local and international partners, and to all of Qatari society. QUL has extensive book collections in print and digital format. It subscribes to scholarly databases in all areas taught at Qatar University and provides trainings in general research techniques and information literacy.
Qatar University is situated on the northern edge of Doha, approximately 16 kilometers from the city center. The location is excellent, and overlooks the coast, the Doha Golf Course and the West Bay Lagoon housing complex on the eastern side. In addition to the main campus, the University has an experimental farm located 65 km north of Doha.
QU’s main campus is built on a total area of about 8 square kilometers, with architecture that is distinguished and modern, while reflecting the ideals of traditional Islamic design. The campus is divided into two adjacent sections, for male and female students. Both the men’s and women’s campuses have their own lecture halls, laboratories, and learning-support facilities.
The Sports Facilities Department is dedicated to providing a diverse range of sports activities by offering integrated sports facilities that are equipped to accommodate various sports events and courses. This initiative promotes a healthy lifestyle among students, faculty members, and external beneficiaries. The department is also committed to establishing guidelines and regulations that ensure the optimal use of the facilities during sports activities. Furthermore, it develops well-planned expansion strategies aimed at achieving diversity in activities and excellence in sports management.
The Students’ Clubs and Organizations Section assists students to engage in student life, qualifies them to work in groups where a stimulating work environment prevails and encourages creativity and innovation, to develop skills and talents, that refine the student personality and provide them with educational and cultural experiences, which help them establish new friendships with their classmates.
