History
Founded in 1887 in Toronto through a bequest from the estate of Senator William McMaster, a member of the first senate after Confederation and founding president of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Maroon and grey were adopted as the official colours in 1912. We relocated from Toronto to Hamilton in 1930.

Definitely recommended!
Loved my experience at Mac! I always recommend it to everyone who asks. The supportive community is like no other campus I've seen (not internally competitive) and the social scene is a great balance of work hard play hard!
McMaster University's Opportunities and Outreach
McMaster University has a multitude of opportunities for students in their undergraduate degree. The school receives a fair bit of funding and uses that to excel in its research specializations. This opens and invites individuals from many different schools to take part in and support the research done at the school. Additionally, McMaster has resources available for successful research, especially the apparatuses present in the Science Department.
Hands‑on tech, dated halls
Great school, but the campus is a bit old. The main area of study is very hands-on, which I really like. The tasks are great, but some teachers could be better. A lot of them come straight from the industry, and that doesn't always make them the best teachers. Nonetheless, it's a lot of fun and definitely a course I'd recommend to anyone getting into technology.
Global Student Satisfaction Awards 2025
