History
The Vanport Extension Center opened its doors the summer of 1946 to 220 students, offering the first two years of college study.The institution survived a devastating flood in 1948 and was moved three times, ultimately residing at its current location in downtown Portland, Oregon, on the iconic South Park Blocks in 1952.

My only complaint is parking
As an older returning student, the non-traditional campus makes this university more approachable. Being in the city, the campus blends into Portland and allows students to live off campus but still close. This also allows for more food options, walking a block away from class and there are numerous options. My only complaint is parking, being a commuter I often have trouble finding a parking spot if my timing is off.
Always reliable
Portland State University is an outstanding university with incredibly kind and supportive faculty. I was pleased by the lecturers' approachability and knowledge from the first day of class. They were always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that their students understood the topic and performed well on their exams. Also, PSU teachers are extremely motivated and expect equivalent results from their students. I've grown so much academically as a result of their guidance and support, and I'll always be grateful for the education I had at this institution. I'll miss the animated chats and testing activities that helped me develop decisive reasoning skills and prepared me for this current reality.
PSU review
I have enjoyed the level of academic rigor and the teachers have been great. My advisor has also been very helpful in instructing what classes to focus on. I have not gotten the chance to try campus facilities, but my other classmates tell me that they enjoy the rec room. I've also heard that parking can be difficult times at peak hours. The only thing that can be intimidating is the number of houseless people you encounter on the way to campus from the train. While generally harmless, there are a few that are inebriated on substances that tend to be obnoxious. I opt for more online classes, so I don't have to deal with it often.
