Description

The scholarship is available to students from Austria, applying to a graduate course at a university in Slovakia.

Benefits

Supplementary grant, additional funds required:

monthly grant rate (payment by SAIA, n. o.): EUR 1,250.

The costs for medical care during stays abroad within the EU are charged by the respective national insurance providers. For scholarship stays in EU countries, you should take the European Health Insurance Card with you.

The costs for accommodation and possible additional insurances have to be paid by the scholarship holders themselves. Accommodation should be arranged by the host institution in a dormitory of a university or in a residential facility of the SAW.

Travel expenses must be paid by the scholarship holders themselves.

Eligibility

  • Diploma or Master Students of Austrian public and private universities, universities of applied sciences or university colleges of teacher education who have completed at least one semester of their studies in the 2nd stage or in the master's programme by the submission deadline are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
  • Eligible are currently enrolled scholars (minimum of 5 ECTS in the last term) or scholars who are presently involved in research activities at their university.
  • The objective of the grant for diploma candidates is to offer students the opportunity to use sources in Slovakia, too, for the preparation of their degree/master/diploma thesis and thus to improve the quality of their thesis. The stay in Slovakia must be clearly related to the topic of the degree/master/diploma thesis and be planned accordingly.
  • In addition, students who want to complete a German as foreign language traineeship (DaF) in Slovakia may also apply for this grant.
  • Slovak citizens who have a permanent residence in Slovakia and study at an Austrian University can receive a scholarship from the Action for a stay in Slovakia only if there are at least 100km (linear distance) between the place of their host institution and the place of their permanent residence.
  • The scholarship cannot be extended. The scholarship can be consumed only once.

The following documents must be attached to the application form:

Confirmation of supervision (in German or English) from target organisation, also naming the language of communication with the scholarship holder.

2 letters of recommendation (in German or English) by university teachers of an institution (lecturers, professors) or other academic staff with equivalent ranking; one of the letters of recommendation must be from the academic supervisor of the applicant.

Approval of the research stay by the home institution (in German or English).

if available, photocopy of the diploma examination certificate after completion of the 1st stage of your university studies (bachelor programme).
