And, every semester, a number of national and international speakers - both well-known experts and promising young researchers – are invited to speak in the lecture series Forum Antiquum. You will also benefit from the collaboration of classicists from different Universities in the National Research School in Classics (OIKOS).
Programme Structure
Common Courses:
- The Research Master Classics shares two Common Courses with Assyriology, Egyptology and Hebrew and Aramaic Studies (the other Classics and Ancient Civilizations specializations).
- These courses are geared towards connecting the various disciplines and cross-fertilizing work in your own specialization.
- Students are invited to examine cultural phenomena that transcend their own discipline and engage in discussions with fellows from neighbouring fields.
- Since classes in the Research Master level always follow recent trends in research, specific topics presented in the Common Courses may change every year.

Other requirements
General requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Classics or a comparable discipline, with classes on Greek and Latin texts in the original language, roughly equivalent to the 95 credits required in the Dutch system. You are required to submit an overview of ancient Greek and Latin texts (with numbers of pages) that you have read in the original language during your undergraduate/graduate studies.
