Ca' Foscari University of Venice is a public university in Venice, Italy; it is usually known simply as Università Ca' Foscari. Since its foundation in 1868 it has been housed in the Venetian Gothic palace of Ca' Foscari, from which it takes its name.

About

History

Founded on August 6, 1868 as the “Scuola Superiore di Commercio” (Advanced School for Commerce), Ca' Foscari was the first Italian institution to deal with advanced education in Business and Economics. The original main office is still found in the grand gothic palace “volta de canal” (on the bend of the Grand Canal), in the heart of Venice.

Ca’ Foscari is ranked third in Italy for the excellence of its research, and it has earned so many of the coveted European Commission Marie Curie research fellowships that it is one of Europe’s ten most successful universities in this regard.   • The Housing Office is a service for Italian and international students, researchers, professors and administrative staff coming to study or work at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
  • The office can help you look for a suitable and convenient accommodation in student residences, flats or hotels that hold an agreement with Ca’ Foscari University.
  • The Housing Office matches the needs and preferences of the applicants with the available accommodations. It may also help you look for a temporary lodging and give useful information about Venice accommodation.

Library services

The University Library System (SBA) includes 4 main libraries (Arts and Humanities, Economics and Management, Languages and Cultures, Science and Technology), holding about 1 million books and 4,400 periodicals and providing access to a wide range of electronic resources.

ICT services

  • Access to the Ca' Foscari WiFi network is reserved exclusively for: students, staff, accredited guests and guests belonging to eduroam member organisations.
  • Ca’ Foscari users can access for free the Wi-Fi network of the Venice City Council (VeniceConnected) by using the same username and password provided when they registered on the Ca’ Foscari website.

Campus life

It’s true when they say that Venice is a place like no other – one where history collides with innovation and where inspiration lies around every corner. Ca’ Foscari’s main campus is located in the heart of Venice’s historic center, but it also has additional campuses on the mainland.

While many of our university buildings are historic, they are all equipped with modern technology. What is more, our Economics Campus was completely renovated just a few years ago and our Scientific Campus is brand new.

The University offers students the use of:

  • canteens in many locations of Venice and on the mainland.

Sports facilities

I am a master student of Ca' Foscari ,studying in accounting and finance. I am so glad that I had this opportunities to study in this wonderful city. The service given the university is very helpful. Professors are friendly and learned, I am encouraged by them when I do the presentation. apart from the study, here you can expore the unique water city life.

My experience at Ca' Foscari has been excellent so far! I think the university combines well the traditional approach of the Italian education system with influences from all around the world.
