History
Norfolk State College was founded in 1935. The College, brought to life in the midst of the Great Depression, provided a setting in which the youth of the region could give expression to their hopes and aspirations.
Education
All NSU degree programs have been approved by SCHEV and are published on SCHEV's degree inventory website. The University has five academic colleges/schools and 49 degree programs that operate on one campus. The University also offers online programs through NSU Online, an honors degree through the Robert C. Nusbaum Honors College and certificate programs through the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.

Best Online University
Nexford University is the best online University with freely professor and study community. The success advisor are top notch. I will recommend Nexford University to anyone. I celebrate my decision to study in Nexford.

Low level of education and not too flexible
I�m very disappointed with my experience at Nexford University. When I enrolled, the university was advertised as flexible and fast-paced, allowing new students to take two courses at a time and progress quickly. This was a key reason I joined, as I planned my studies and personal commitments around this schedule and even paid extra for transfer credits. Shortly after enrolling, the university changed its policy, new students are forced to take only one course at a time for the first eight courses. This change completely disrupted my plans and created financial and scheduling issues. What�s worse, there is no clear withdrawal or refund process for new students affected by these changes. I contacted customer service at least eight times and requested phone calls three times, but all I received were generic template responses repeating the new policy. No one addressed my actual concerns or offered real solutions, and every attempt to escalate my case went nowhere. The only time I received calls was when I was being sold the program, not when I needed real support. I also scheduled meetings to discuss my academic path, but no one showed up-only to receive an apology message hours later. The coursework itself was underwhelming for me. I finished assignments in about a week and consistently scored over 95%. In many cases, I could have learned the same material from YouTube videos, and the reading materials felt outdated and basic-something AI could easily improve. I do want to mention that the instructors were attentive and helpful, but unfortunately, the overall academic challenge was not there. The new policy might help some students, but for those with prior experience or who want to move faster, it makes the program unnecessarily slow and frustrating. The lack of transparency, poor customer service, and inability to get a refund or even a proper response made this experience even worse. If Nexford is going to change its advertised policies, especially for new students, they should at least offer a way out or a refund option. As it stands, I cannot recommend Nexford to anyone looking for a truly flexible or responsive online university.

Medical services
The Spartan Health Center, located in Spartan Station, provides basic health services for NSU students, including diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, emergency medical care, and health education counseling.
