Auburn University at Montgomery

Auburn University at Montgomery has been ranked among the South’s top universities by U.S. News and World Report, was named one of the best colleges in the Southeast by The Princeton Review, is designated as a Military Friendly School, and is consistently chosen as the best university in the area.

The state of Alabama founded AUM in 1967, at the request of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Then, like now, growing businesses desperately needed a deeper pool of educated employees. Just seven miles east of the state capitol, today AUM continues to support a number of local, state and regional government functions, but our mission is much bigger.

You won't find a better place to build, or expand, your teaching skills than the Auburn Montgomery College. With a reputation as one of the best teacher prep programs in Alabama, our graduates are highly sought after by schools statewide.

The mission of the Research Council at Auburn University at Montgomery is to nurture, support, and advance excellence in research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines on the Auburn Montgomery campus. The primary goal is to coordinate internal awards supported by competitive grant programs that promote research and creative faculty scholarship in all disciplines.

Campus life

There is more to your college experience, of course, than what you learn in the classroom. Your personal experience in school will be unique, whether you are living on campus or going to school at night after work. And you’ll grow during your time at AUM in ways that are hard to predict.

There are many different facets to Campus Life, from where you might live on campus to your many great eating options. But there is so much more to your time at AUM.

Sports facilities

  • Originally built in 1985, the soccer complex features a 120 x 80 Bermuda grass field enclosed by natural privacy hedges and a paved brick walkway from the parking area to a 200-seat bleacher section at midfield. The complex has covered bench shelters on a concrete foundation for teams, a new scoreboard that was installed in 2014 and a press box between the team benches that was added in 2008.
  • The Athletics Complex, (formerly the Physical Education Complex) was built in 1976 and has received numerous renovations over the past several years, including meeting space and a hospitality room that opened in 2013, which houses the Athletic Hall of Fame. The current seating capacity of the arena is 2,760.

Student clubs

While you’re here, you’ll find countless opportunities to expand your experiences far beyond the classroom. From Student Government to Greek Life, from clubs and organizations to intramural sports, you'll have every opportunity to pursue your passions or find new ones. What you’ll discover is that the things you learn outside of the classroom have just as big an impact on your life as the courses you study. You’ll build relationships and gain experiences and develop essential leaderships skills that will prepare you take on the life you choose with confidence.
