The state of Alabama founded AUM in 1967, at the request of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Then, like now, growing businesses desperately needed a deeper pool of educated employees. Just seven miles east of the state capitol, today AUM continues to support a number of local, state and regional government functions, but our mission is much bigger.

The mission of the Research Council at Auburn University at Montgomery is to nurture, support, and advance excellence in research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines on the Auburn Montgomery campus. The primary goal is to coordinate internal awards supported by competitive grant programs that promote research and creative faculty scholarship in all disciplines.

Also, the Office of Global Initiatives works directly with all international students from the moment they arrive in the USA. We will help you with the application form and visa issues. We will pick you up at the Montgomery Airport, help you locate your apartment on campus, set up Internet and phone service, and find your adviser.
AUM Housing and Residence Life offers students benefits such as being close to classes and activities, living and learning with friends, making better grades and getting involved in a community. You'll be surrounded by all of the cultural, social and sporting events that make AUM vibrant, and you can build a network of lifelong friends to share your memories of campus life. Our supportive living-learning community will connect you to other students with similar academic interests and experiences.
The AUM Library is housed in a two-phase building complex which includes a ten-story tower. The library collections contain about 375,000 books, 420 current periodical subscriptions, and over 120 electronic resource databases. AUM Library is a member of OCLC, an international on-line bibliographic database with more than 1 billion records.

All Auburn University at Montgomery foreign national students and their dependents are required to participate in the AUM Group Health Insurance Plan. We remain committed to the health, welfare and safety of our international students. The AUM Group Health Insurance Plan is provided by United Healthcare Student Resources of Saint Petersburg, Florida.
