Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College had its origin in land grants made by the United States government in 1806, 1811 and 1827 for use as a seminary of learning. In 1853, the Louisiana General Assembly established the Seminary of Learning of the State of Louisiana near Pineville, La. The institution opened January 2, 1860.

The LSU Law Library is one of the largest academic law libraries in the United States, and holds more than 850,000 volume equivalents,109,000 volumes of court records. In addition to the standard Anglo-American legal materials, the library has substantial collections of foreign, international, and comparative law. It is a selective depository for U.S. Government documents and Louisiana documents.
Information Technology Services delivers University-tailored and enterprise grade technology infrastructure, security, applications, communications and services to empower and enable the research, teaching and administrative functions of LSU. ITS embraces operational excellence and industry best practices to supply enterprise architecture and IT shared services supporting the LSU system.
Student Health Center
The mission of the SHC is to provide, promote, and support services that integrate individual health, education for health, prevention of disease, clinical treatment for illness, and public health responsibilities consistent with the educational mission of the University.
LSU is located on more than 1,000 acres in the southern part of the city near the Mississippi River. The campus is known for the roughly 1,200 large oak trees that surround and shade the university, with "Stately oaks and broad magnolias" being the catch phrase description of the university. LSU is also distinguished by the five historic and beautiful lakes that surround the area, referred to as the "LSU lakes". The campus is home to two Indian mounds created by Native Americans over 5,000 years ago, located near the northwest corner of campus.
Faculty and staff are admitted at no charge to regular season volleyball, gymnastics, women’s basketball, softball, track and field, and baseball games with a valid LSU ID (based on availability).

There are definitely pro's and con's, but I wouldn't change my college experience. I loved LSU and the community; I think there is a facet for everyone if you look for it.
most professors have been very enlightening. The smaller seminar classes really opened my eyes and promoted a better understanding of culture, politics, and society. I don't like the lack of motivation amongst my peers and the lack of funding more my specific college.
I have not had the best experience overall at this university, and this is something that I have opened up to my teachers about. These experiences affected my mental health, and sometimes made it hard for me to find motivation. My teachers were very accommodating in my fields of study. But I have heard from friends that programs with large numbers do not give the same care...
