About the programme

Research is performed with beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry, and various laboratory species. Interactions of school faculty with scientists in the School of Veterinary Medicine, Pennington Biomedical Research Institute, and units of the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station (LAES) throughout the state provide a vast array of research opportunities for graduate students in the animal sciences.

The departmental-level academic course plan of Animal Sciences program from Louisiana State University for each student will be developed in consultation with the student’s graduate advisory committee. The committee will include the student’s major advisor and at least two additional members of the graduate faculty such that the LSU Graduate School’s requirements for graduate committees are satisfied. At least one of the graduate faculty members in addition to the major advisor must be from the School.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution or the equivalent from a foreign institution.

A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00 (A = 4.0) on all undergraduate work (or in the final 64 credit hours) and any graduate work already completed.

Acceptable GRE or GMAT scores.

A copy of the name page of your passport.

A completed Affidavit of Support and supporting financial documents (required to process forms for F-1 and J-1 visas). Note: Your application will be processed even if your financial documents are not included.
