I've been studying at James Cook University for my postgraduate degree through their Cloud Campus. Overall, I've found it to be a well-equipped and accessible university with a lot to offer. However, I do wish all classes were recorded for cloud-based students, and that there was better access to essential study tools such as SPSS for research purposes.
The lecturers are usually responsive, but some may seem slightly under-qualified, especially when it comes to marking. It is important to maintain communication with them to make sure you know what they want from you- as each lecturer/tutor has different standards. Though, that can be tough because some do not respond to their emails.

The JCU Townsville, Douglas campus has been named Bebegu Yumba, which means “Place of Learning” in the Birri-Gubba language.
JCU Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus is located in the Townsville Tropical Intelligence and Health Precinct (TropiQ) in the suburb of Douglas. Set in a 386-hectare natural bush and parkland setting, 13 kilometres (8 miles) from the Townsville CBD, the campus houses around 1,400 students in colleges and halls of residence. Over 13,000 students are part of the JCU Townsville community, including approximately 1,500 international students.

The Student Association has a number of recognised Clubs & Societies that include sporting, recreational and faculty groups.
Clubs & Societies play an active role in the University community by providing students the opportunity to meet people with common interests and to pursue those interests.
