Opened in 1876 as Texas' first public institution of higher learning, Texas A&M University is a research-intensive flagship university with more than 50,000 students — including 10,000 graduate students — studying in more than 120 undergraduate and 240 graduate degree programs in 16 colleges and schools.
The State of Texas agreed to create a college under the terms of the Morrill Act in November 1866, but actual formation didn't come until the establishment of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas by the Texas state legislature on April 17, 1871.

Most people are surprised to hear that Texas A&M actually wasn't my first choice when considering bachelor's degrees. After five years at the university, I could not be more proud to represent the Aggie family. Texas A&M truly is more than just a degree; it is a network of dedicated and selfless professionals across all fields.
During my time there, the advisors and student resources helped make my goals a reality. While the school is large, the attention given to each individual by the staff, professors, and professionals makes the experience feel personal and individualized. One of my favorite parts about Texas A&M was the abundance of student organizations and opportunities to connect with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. With over 1,300 student-run organizations, it is both affordable and extremely easy to find peers who share similar values, interests, and career goals.
I was personally a member of GEMs, a women's organization where I met many of my best friends and stayed involved through events held multiple times each week. Having that community made being away from home much easier because it gave me a place where I felt like I belonged and helped the university feel much smaller than it actually is.
Apart from the amazing culture, traditions, passionate sporting events, career fairs, and countless opportunities available to students, I have come to realize that a degree and Aggie Ring from Texas A&M are invaluable. The Aggie Network you join is worldwide and makes the job search after graduation far less stressful. Regardless of when you graduate, Aggies across the globe respect, appreciate, and trust one another because they understand the quality of education, work ethic, and values that Texas A&M instills in its students.

Good experience overall
Good staff and good community. The classes are all high quality and the school is well respected. The dorms are really nice and most other students are nice too. A&M definitely is a good school to go to if you want a great college experience. I found that a lot of my professors were nice and helpful.
