Overview
Our Biotechnology Industry Advisory Council at Texas A&M University provides further guidance to ensure our curriculum is responsive to industry needs and works to increase career opportunities for our graduates and the visibility of the program.
Students complete a rigorous curriculum that includes:
- Molecular biotechnology and genomics
- Technical writing
- Semester-long industry internship
- Hands-on laboratory-based research
- Bioethics
- Business courses
An outstanding feature of our program is the completion of an industry internship and the production of a Professional Portfolio, in which the student reflects on skills and competencies obtained through course work, informal learning experiences, and their internship. Students give a public presentation of their internship experience followed by a final oral exam of the portfolio by their faculty committee. Our program also stresses leadership and service in extra-curricular activities appropriate to the field.
