In response to the issues that have affected families whose lives have been upended by hurricanes and other natural disasters, the OVC Scholarship Network is extending a helping hand to those in need.
Through the Natural Disaster Relief Scholarship, the OVC Scholarship Network works to provide students with much-needed support as they take steps to get their lives back on track.
They have immense compassion for those who have lost loved ones, homes, and businesses or suffered other losses as a result of natural disasters. They recognize how hard it can be to return to normalcy after these devastating events. Their goal is to help students and their families worry less about the costs of education while they focus on rebuilding their lives.
Through their Natural Disaster Relief Scholarship, the OVC Scholarship Network provides a $1,000 award each semester to a student who has been greatly impacted by natural disasters within the United States in the last 10 years.
Applicants must submit contact information, details about the school they will be attending in the upcoming semester, and other basic information. To demonstrate eligibility, an applicant must provide proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited school within the United States, which may include: a letter of enrollment, an acceptance letter, a class schedule, or an unofficial transcript.
Finally, each applicant must submit a video of 3 to 5 minutes in length answering the following prompt:
How Are Applications Evaluated?
Their scholarship team will rank each application based on the following factors:
Does the student meet all eligibility and application requirements?
Does the video essay answer the prompt in a well-structured and organized manner?
Did the student provide an authentic and personal story?
