About

History

The University of Hertfordshire was created as an independent Higher Education Corporation in 1989 under the terms of the Education Reform Act (1989). The institution achieved university status in 1992 under the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act (1992).

Education

One of their aims is to bring higher education to a wider audience. They provide flexible learning opportunities for local residents and businesses, including:

  • evening classes, summer schools and short courses at community venues
  • public lectures and workshops
  • part-time study, continuing education programmes, and new foundation degrees.

Research

Their research provides solutions to major societal challenges, supports industrial innovation, enriches lives and informs our teaching through a network of collaborations with businesses, the public sector, policymakers and charities.

They organise our research by six themes: Food; Global Economy; Health and Wellbeing; Heritage, Cultures and Communities; Information and Security; and Space.

Career

The University has longstanding links with business, industry, public sector and professional organisations, and our commitment to being the UK's leading business-facing University means you benefit from our drive to ensure that you, our graduates, are the first choice for employers. So, whatever you want to do - or if you're not quite sure yet - we'll do everything in our power to help you on your way to a happy and fulfilling future career.

The university is great and very modernised, the lecturers are very attentive and the halls are very large. There is a great on campus club for socialising and two large libraries on each campus which are open 24 hours per day. The university is also only 20 minutes from London and in a small but very lively town. I would 100% recommend this university to anyone wanting to...

What i really dreamt of was to obtain a British degree and my dream has come true. Overall my experience as a student was excellent. It was not only my studies that mattered to me but the extra-curricular activities, intenship, friends, culture, climate and the food.
