The University of Hertfordshire was created as an independent Higher Education Corporation in 1989 under the terms of the Education Reform Act (1989). The institution achieved university status in 1992 under the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act (1992).

Overall I had a great time at Hertfordshire. I would recommend it. The only down-point about the university is its location. There isn't much to do in the town compared to other universities. Depending on what kind of person you are, that might not be an issue
