About

History

The institution now known as Radford University was founded by the Virginia General Assembly in the spring of 1910. The State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Radford grew out of a late nineteenth-century effort to expand Virginia's public school system and prepare a sufficient number of teachers.

Education

The university offers 67 degree programs in 38 disciplines and four certificates at the undergraduate level; 22 master's programs in 17 disciplines and three doctoral programs at the graduate level; 11 post-baccalaureate certificates and one post-master's certificate.

Student services

The University Campus is abundant in student offices, designed to help you with any sort of issue you may encounter. From Counseling Centers to Offices for Diversity and Equity, you are sure to find a solution for any problem in the proximity of your studying point.

Housing services

More than 3,000 students live on-campus across 15 residence halls. In total, more than 80 percent of our students live on campus or in off-campus housing within walking distance to the university. 

Themed housing, including Honors Academy, visual and performing arts and College of Science and Information Technology majors create unique learning communities for qualified interested students. 

There are nearly a dozen different places to eat on campus, including Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Papa John's, Austin Grill and many more. Dalton and Muse Hall offer more traditional dining settings.

Library services

The library at Radford was first located in the Administration Building, once standing where Muse is located. When the college opened in 1914, the library housed 1,500 volumes. Groundbreaking for McConnell Library began in 1931, with a budget of $43,000. The library was completed during the 1931-32 session. 

ICT services

The computer labs across campus have the software installed for students to complete assignments.All of Radford University campus buildings have wireless access. It is recommended that all faculty, staff, and students use eduroam when connecting to the wireless network.  eduroam will encrypt all data as it is transmitted to the wireless access point preventing any exposure of data.

Radford University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctorate degrees.
