From the first day of classes in October 1887, Pratt Institute has offered students and faculty members the opportunity to make a tangible difference on a local, national, and international scale. While the Institute's curriculum and scope have evolved in the decades since its founding, its programs remain true to the founder's vision.
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) welcomes about 650 new International students each year. There are about 1,500 international students from 80 countries. Thirty percent (30%) of Pratt’s enrolled students are international. In addition to providing services to the international students, the OIA takes care of J-1 Exchange Visitors including Inbound exchange students, professors, and scholars.

Pratt offers a variety of living options for students. Explore our halls, available options and costs, read our on-campus living guide and learn what amenities await you. All Pratt residence halls are co-ed; male and female residents share the same floors and living community. Our halls are staffed with professional, paraprofessional and student staff who are available to students who need assistance and to create an environment in the halls that promotes student learning and development, complementing and enhancing the Pratt experience.
Pratt Athletics values the lessons that have long been taught by athletic participation: the pursuit of excellence through personal development and teamwork; ethical and responsible behavior on the field and off; adherence to the spirit of rules as well as to their letter; leadership and strength of character; sportsmanship, respect for one's opponents, acceptance of victory with humility, acknowledgment of defeat with grace, respect for the value of cross-cultural understanding, and acceptance. Within these lessons to its students, Pratt Athletics instills habits that will lead students to better, healthier, and successful lives.
