PhD help, admin clarity
Good university located in a major city. Lots of connections to the community which helps students find jobs. Attended as a PhD student - not a ton of social support from the department but the administration is great about providing answers to questions about the program or degree requirements.
Lots to learn but little funding and resources
Overall the program is great, there is a lot of opprtunites that can come from the photography and digital media program, however, they don't really detail what the program is about before you get in and it is very vague. Little funding is toward the arts which can be seen in the state of the fine arts building and the lack of resources. Because of this and im assuming the lack of pay it is hard to keep and professors who really want to teach as they dont make enough to support themselves and the rotation of new professors feels endless.
Business Major at UH
As a Business major, I know that the benefits of attending the University of Houston, outweigh the costs. the opportunities provided by the college are astronomical. There are career fairs, sometimes for specific majors, like psychology or business, which helps boost students' chances of finding a suitable job. For the Business Major career fair, I was surprised to find that there was a whole course that revolved around the event, BUSI 2302 helps students prepare for the career fair while also giving students the opportunity to collaborate with other students and complete projecrs like a real job setting. The idea behind this course is awesome, however, I only had the issue that I was not able to pick who I collaborated with. This, however, taught me a valuable lesson about learning to work in teams.
