Colorado State University is a land-grant university. The concept of land-grant institutions is rooted in converging social, political, and cultural changes in the United States during the mid-19th century. In a tumultuous era of Civil War and westward expansion, U.S. Representative Justin Morrill of Vermont proposed creating a public college in every state that would be supported by federal grants of public land. Most of the available public land at the time was in the west.

Inspired by its land-grant heritage, Colorado State University is committed to excellence, setting the standard for public research universities in teaching, research, service and extension for the benefit of the citizens of Colorado, the United States and the world.

Qualified undergraduate and graduate students have many opportunities to engage in research and creative activity while enrolled at CSU. These opportunities allow students to enhance their education by working closely with a faculty mentor.

Difficult but there is hlep

The program itself is difficult, but CSU has many support systems. There are tutors and mental health resources. It has been fun to network because of how big the student population is.

My Experience at Colorado State University
Anonymous rated 4 out of 5 stars

Overall I had a very positive experience with CSU. During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, several of my courses did not adapt well to the online environment. I felt as if my learning was severely impacted by this and is part of why I chose to apply for a masters program before pursuing further graduate school.

In this department, which I will be studying, I will be a remarkable and successful student among many students.

I studied English for a year and I will start my department this year. I am very excited for this department and I want to have a successful academic life.
