History

​Cardiff Metropolitan University is justifiably proud of all its alumni, with our history tracing back to 1865 when the School of Art first opened in the Old Free Library in Cardiff. Since we developed into a university, we have remained rooted in Wales while providing practice-focused and professionally oriented education to students from around the globe.

Student services

We can provide you with a range of information and advice through our Student Advisory and Wellbeing Services to enhance your experience during your study at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The International Student Advisers offer specialist advice on topics such as:

  • Shopping for familiar food
  • Locating a suitable place of worship

  • Opening a UK bank account
  • Registering and paying for council tax and a TV licence

Housing services

Cardiff Met has an Accommodation Office based on the Cyncoed campus which is open throughout the year to assist you with any accommodation queries. The Accommodation Office has very helpful and friendly staff who can assist you with queries about your halls of residence accommodation or they will be happy to advise you about living in the private sector.

Library services

Cardiff offers access to digital and physical collections including our  own Special Collections. MetSearch​​ offers access to 1000s of ebooks and ejournals 24/7 and 365 days a year

The library service has a team of dedicated Academic Librarians who can give you advice and support.

ICT services

  • ​​​​​​​​​​We support all aspects of using IT at Cardiff Met.  We deal with password issues and computer problems; we can help with the wi-fi​ and give advice on purchasing I​T​ hardware​ and software​.
  • For any IT query, you can call​, email ​or chat online with us.  Alternatively you can stop by the technology support desks​ in the learning centres​.

It was very challenging to meet different students from different language speaking students first time. But the campus environment was very much welcoming and friendly and it continues until today. The study programme is well scheduled and mostly it enabled us to learn on our own. There are group activities which put differences into unity.
