As part of the Youth Education Program, EDC provides up to 20 scholarships a year to international business post-secondary students at Canadian universities and colleges, and 7 scholarships to post-secondary students representing the next generation of community champions from a diversity of backgrounds.

Description

EDC Indigenous Community Leader Scholarship is available to Indigenous students (First Nations status or non-status, Métis, or Inuit) pursuing studies at a Canadian college, university, or cégep.

Benefits

The value of the scholarship is $5,000.

Eligibility

  • Be able to provide your SIN (Social Insurance Number) for tax purposes.
  • Be a First Nations (status and non-status), Inuit or Métis student.

Be pursuing post-secondary studies at a Canadian college, university, or cégep for the 2023-2024 academic year in a field related to EDC’s work, including one of the following:

  • Business and finance (international business, economics, sustainability, statistics, finance, investments, mathematics).
  • Operations and administration (operations, commerce, human resources, accounting, communications, project management, information management, data analytics, digital design, graphic design, legal).
  • Information technology (computer science, software engineering/development, network engineering, business analysis, data analytics, cybersecurity).
  • A field related to the support of Indigenous Peoples.

Have strong academic standing (minimum 70% cumulative average).

  • Demonstrate commitment to the advancement of Indigenous communities in Canada or abroad through work experience, community support, volunteering, and/or extra-curriculars.

Assets:

  • Recipient of awards or honours.
  • If you speak or are pursuing studies of Indigenous language(s), that is considered an asset.

Your application must include the following three documents:

Letter of intent (written response of maximum 1,000 words or 3-5 minute video/voice clip);

Reference letter (written response of a maximum of 500 words);

Transcripts: Your official transcripts from your most recent academic term, including the grading system specific to your school.
