For more than a decade, prominent figures in the community developed a vision for a student-focused institution dedicated to great teaching, groundbreaking research, and the use of leading-edge learning technology. Fundamental to each student's academic and personal success is the responsibility of being able to both demonstrate self-reliance and identify the needs that require accommodation.At the beginning of each school year you must meet with your disability advisor to create an accommodation plan. First-year students are encouraged to register as soon as they receive their letter of acceptance to UOIT. The accommodation plan details the services and supports that will be put in place or made available based on the documentation provided. Each plan is unique and tailored to your specific needs.

In addition to being the hockey home of the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals, who play in downtown Oshawa at the spectacular General Motors Centre sports and entertainment complex, the region has a wealth of sports facilities, fitness centres and golf courses.
