Every UOIT research project is built on three guiding principles: excellence, innovation, and societal impact within Canada, and/or internationally. Our research addresses current and future economic and social needs. With this in mind, our strategic research themes are:
We offer challenging work in a dynamic and diverse workplace, supported by highly dedicated faculty and staff. We believe that in order to develop graduates who will thrive in the 21st-century workplace, we must be a 21st-century workplace.
Excellence begins with great people. At UOIT, we aspire to be one of Canada's top employers. That means supporting our talented faculty and staff every step of the way. We offer a wide range of services to help you both on and off the job.
Fundamental to each student's academic and personal success is the responsibility of being able to both demonstrate self-reliance and identify the needs that require accommodation. At the beginning of each school year you must meet with your disability advisor to create an accommodation plan. First-year students are encouraged to register as soon as they receive their letter of acceptance to UOIT. The accommodation plan details the services and supports that will be put in place or made available based on the documentation provided. Each plan is unique and tailored to your specific needs.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology has a vital interest in the health and safety of its employees, students, visitors and contractors. The prevention of occupational illness or injury is a major continuing objective and the university will make every reasonable effort to provide and maintain a safe and healthy work and learning environment.
As one of Canada's youngest and most dynamic universities, UOIT is rapidly growing in reputation and in enrolment at the undergraduate and graduate levels. To address that growth and ensure our students continue to have access to an outstanding learning environment, UOIT established a downtown Oshawa location and has added new classrooms, labs, study areas and state-of-the-art learning facilities at the north Oshawa location.
In addition to being the hockey home of the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals, who play in downtown Oshawa at the spectacular General Motors Centre sports and entertainment complex, the region has a wealth of sports facilities, fitness centres and golf courses. You'll find downhill and cross-county skiing facilities within 30 minutes of the campus. As well, you can enjoy hiking, walking, in-line skating and biking along many scenic trails.
The Student Association (SA) provides services, information and resources for students including:
