Founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah, the university was envisaged by His Highness as a leading educational institution in the Gulf region.
AUS offers 26 majors and 45 minors at the undergraduate level, and 13 master’s degrees through the College of Architecture, Art and Design, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and the School of Business Administration.
Research is woven into the fabric of education in the 21st century. Education, once focused on knowledge learning, has transformed into a means of knowledge discovery. New knowledge discovered has the potential to improve our lives, advance our communities, and profoundly benefit humanity and the environment. The Career Development Unit at the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs provides continuous support, advice and guidance for current students (as well as graduates) in order to help them secure rewarding professional careers and internship opportunities. The Unit conducts preparatory programs, workshops, conferences, seminars and training courses that enhance a variety of skills including those required for interviews, employment contract negotiations, career planning and CV writing.

the university campus was always clean and equipped with all what a student need to have a perfect learning environment. the professors was not just people who come and teach the material for the course and leave without making an actual connection with the student to make them feel welcome, in addition to actually give their own knowledge to whoever tries to learn. the system itself wasn’t too easy that you just “buy” the degree, but it wasn’t challenging to the point of making you loose interest in the field you are passionate about. the professors would get out of their way to help the students and ensure their understanding to lengths that was way beyond my expectations, showing they truly care about the quality of education the students get in the university. the only place which needs improvement is the advising process. it is a meeting with a designated professor who tells you what courses you need to take in the next semester. the system is helpful if we don’t take into consideration the GERs, which are the courses you take form other departments. a great solution for this is to apply a student advisor system that went through most of the journey to advise younger students with which courses to take first and make sure the amount of courses taken in one semester is actually doable.
