In the fall of 1954 gradual attempts began to propose and create a "new kind of university" focusing on social sciences, economics and business. To this end, a separate board of trustees was founded in March 1959 and the Linz University Fund was established three years later. The "Linzer Hochschule" was legally established in 1962.

Overall good but hard without a strong mathematical and python experience
JKU is a great university, with a clear structure and well organized faculty. The digital infrastructure is international-friendly and international office is really putting in effort to make life easy for international students. Every semester, a lot of exchange students enroll in JKU, making the campus atmosphere dynamic and fun. However, the general management program is really homogeneous, with only 2-3 international students. This impacts the atmosphere in class as there is little to no social cohesion for the international students who participate in the program.

The Main Campus Library at the heart of the JKU campus is home to over 1,250,000 books - all available free of charge. The library also provides access to over 1,200 print journals, 22,000 e-Journals and 23,000 e-Books. And, with over 150,000 books and 20,000 journal volumes, the JKU is home to Austria's largest law library.
