About

History

  • Liverpool Hope University is distinctive in that it is the only university foundation in Europe (and the USA).
  • When the three colleges (St Katharine’s 1844, Notre Dame College 1856 and Christ’s College 1964) came together the name ‘Hope’ was adopted.

  • We are a gold standard university for teaching excellence (TEF 2017), reflecting the research-led teaching our excellent academics provide. Alongside our academic reputation, we are equally proud of our supportive pastoral care. As one of our students, you will receive academic and personal support along your academic journey.

  • We provide a one-to-one advice service to ensure that you get the support that is best for you. We can help with a range of activities from long term goals, like applying for graduate schemes or further study to short term practicalities, like part time work or a new CV. 
  • As a Liverpool Hope student, you have access to My Careers Centre which is full of resources to help you plan and achieve your career goals. You can also build a CV, search for jobs and book onto our events.

Student services

Students' Union - The Centre provides advice, information and representation, in addition to positively influencing policymakers both within and beyond the University. It aims to be accessible, and its advice and information is free, independent, confidential and impartial.

Housing services

  • Hope Park - Hope Park is the main teaching campus and the hub of the academic, administrative and conference activity of the University. The 532 rooms are reserved for first year undergraduates and include both en-suite and shared facilities rooms. All rooms are single occupation and include internet access.
  • Creative Campus - Living at Creative Campus, you’ll have access to a laundrette and various catering outlets. 
  • Aigburth Park - Aigburth Park is a residential campus approximately 3 miles from the city centre and Hope Park, just around the corner from all the cafes, bars and shops on Lark Lane, and the beautiful Sefton Park. 

Library services

  • Liverpool Hope’s library service gives you access to a large collection of physical and online resources to support learning and research. 
  • Hope Park is home to the Sheppard-Worlock Library’s Archives and Special Collections which has over 75,000 books, manuscripts, journals, newsletters, magazines, and pamphlets, and boasts an environmentally controlled vault.

Campus life

Liverpool Hope has two main teaching campuses. Hope Park is situated in a leafy suburb of Liverpool and is a mini educational village. The Creative Campus in Liverpool city centre is the home to our creative and performing arts subjects. Both campuses have seen major investment in recent years, so traditional architecture now sits beside contemporary buildings and facilities.

Liverpool Hope University is one of just two North West universities and twelve universities nationally to gain prestigious professional accreditation from CIEEM. CIEEM are the leading professional membership body representing and supporting ecologists and environmental managers in the UK, Ireland and abroad.

They have the most helpful, reliable and supportive teachers I have ever seen/ had. My timetable isn't that bulky and the assignments are pretty straightforward, just know what you are doing and you will be fine and if you don't understand ask your teachers, they won't mind explaining it 100 times for you. The university itself was really clean and well kept, my course professors were really nice and easy to talk to. The classes were challenging which was good too. I also got to go to Canada on a study abroad semester during my second year which was really fun and gave me new experiences of another country and it’s education system.
