American International College was founded in 1885 by the Reverend Mr. Calvin E. Amaron, who persuaded other enlightened clergy to assist in the establishment of a college that would provide the youth of his ethnic group, French Canadians, with access to higher education.

The James J. Shea Sr. Memorial Library contains more than 76,000 volumes and 14,900 bound periodicals, plus subscriptions to more than 400 current periodicals. Through online database access, innumerable educational resources are available to our students.
The College has completed a technology transformation that includes a new wireless network covering the campus inside and out, along with new desktop computers for staff and new laptop computers for faculty. AIC was the first area college to switch to a VoIP phone system, which offers unified calling and messaging, plus access to voice messages in your email and faxes from your computer.
Since September 1989, Massachusetts law, G.L. c. 15A, Section 18 has required every full-time and part-time student enrolled in an institution of higher learning in Massachusetts to participate in a Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) or in a health benefit plan with comparable coverage. A part-time student is defined as a student participating in at least 75% of the full-time curriculum.
Hines Hall was named in honor of Admiral John F. Hines, who served the college as president from 1953-1969. This eight-story building houses over 200 first-year students and is co-ed by floor. Hines features two lounges, two laundry rooms, and a kitchenette, and each student room has WiFi. The campus police department is located in Hines and is staffed 24/7. A front desk attendant monitors access to the building at night.

The campus is small and the professors are dedicated to their students. The humanities department is phenomenal, and very knowledgeable. The health sciences department, is the gem of the institution. I felt 100% more confident and ready to pursue a career in my field by year 3/4.
I liked the education I received in the occupational therapy program I believe it prepared me well for the board test and with my first job. Not to say that there were many times while working I did not feel like I knew what I was doing. But that happens with most grads. As for the school environment I would give it a zero out of 5.
