The origins can be traced to the early 20th century, with the foundation of Bournemouth Municipal College. Our modern history began in the early 1970s with the creation of the Bournemouth College of Technology, and the construction of new buildings on the largest farm in Talbot Village – the area now known as our Talbot Campus.

Our research shapes and changes the world around us, providing solutions to real-world problems and informing the education we deliver. Our students are a key part of the research we conduct, co-creating knowledge with us and playing a crucial role in everything that we do.

Campus life

Life on campus has become even more exciting now that our new Student Centre has opened, providing more social and learning spaces, as well as a new café, student advice centre, bookable meeting rooms, and radio and media studios, not to mention new offices for SUBU.

Sports facilities

We have excellent sports facilities at SportBU, our gym and fitness centre on Talbot Campus and a very active Students’ Union - SUBU - who run a wide range of clubs and societies. Joining one, or even several, of these is a great way to make new friends and settle into university life.
