History
Florida Tech was founded in 1958 as "Brevard Engineering College." It all started as an idea in the mind of Jerome P. Keuper, Ph.D., a visionary physicist working at Cape Canaveral (now NASA Kennedy Space Center).
Education
Florida Tech comprises four distinct academic colleges, each with a strong focus, as well as an interdisciplinary honors college. Explore the colleges to learn more about the schools, departments, research centers, laboratories and programs housed within.
Research
It is through research that faculty members advance their fields, students enhance their learning, and the university creates change for the benefit of our planet and all of its inhabitants. Every day, pioneering faculty and dedicated students work to uncover the mysteries of phenomena like lightning, autism and supermassive black holes, and to find answers to questions such as, “What can be done to mitigate species decline in the Indian River Lagoon?” and “Should airplanes be piloted from the ground?” or “How can we sustain human life on Mars?”
Career
Career Services provides career and job search services to Florida Tech students and alumni. Our mission is to help students in the development of career plans and job search skills. Career Services acts as a liaison among Florida Tech students, alumni, faculty, staff and employers.

Finding my University FIT
I am loving my experience at FIT. My admissions councilor was amazing in making my transition as an international student seamless. When I arrived on move in day, everything was organized and effortless. I di not have to lift a thing from the car to my dorm. The campus welcome team was very helpful. Getting involved on campus was quite easy and encouraged by all. the location of the campus and atmosphere is same and welcoming. I am grateful that I was able to find my university FIT.
My Journey Through FUT Minna
Studying at the Federal University of Technology, Minna was a transformative chapter in my life, A journey marked by challenges, personal growth, and proud achievements. From the very first day I stepped on campus, I knew I was in for an experience that would shape not just my academic path, but my entire outlook on life. One of the first challenges I encountered was adapting to the rigorous academic system. As a technology-focused institution, FUT Minna demanded excellence and resilience. The workload was intense, especially in courses that required deep technical understanding, lab work, and critical thinking. There were long nights of study, group projects that tested my patience and communication skills, and exams that pushed me to my limits. But through it all, I learned discipline, focus, and how to thrive under pressure. Life on campus came with its own lessons. Navigating accommodation issues, managing limited resources, and dealing with the occasional power or water outage taught me how to be resourceful and independent. But even in those tough times, I found strength in the friendships I built and the vibrant campus community I became part of. Amid the challenges came moments of growth and success. I took part in student activities that helped develop my leadership and teamwork skills. I engaged in projects that allowed me to apply what I learned in class to real-life problems. Each experience added to my confidence and prepared me for life beyond the university walls. Looking back, my time at FUT Minna was more than just academic, it was a period of discovery, resilience, and personal development. Im proud of what I achieved and grateful for the lessons learned. It wasnt always easy, but every challenge helped shape the person I am today.
excellent but frustrating
I came to Florida Tech as a graduate student after several years of working in the field. In terms of faculty engagement and opportunities within the program, Florida Tech did a great job of training me and my colleagues and preparing us for the skills we would use in the field, offering us plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience before graduation. During my time at Florida Tech, there have been some administrative changes that did negatively affect my experience. They raised my tuition while simultaneously lowering my opportunities for graduate assistantship and the pay provided for assistantship. This was not a program that was fully covered for tuition, so this was a notable stressor for me and my colleagues, as our program requires too great a time commitment to maintain employment sustainable enough to offset the costs. At the same time, Florida Tech partnered with a medical college to use one of our buildings, which displaced my entire program during my last year on campus. This was very disorienting for me and my colleagues and I feel it may have negatively impacted engagement with on-campus program activities. This is a struggle, because Florida Tech is largely safe and has great food, but now I don't know where my classrooms are and there are not enough parking spaces for commuting students (such as myself) in the area of campus we have been displaced to. The program I'm in is fantastic, but I have reservations about the way the school has handled these transitions.
