About

The Cell and Molecular Biology program of the Florida Institute of Technology is part of the Biological Sciences graduate program. Through research on fundamental mechanisms carried out by cells and tissues, students discover new information that gives us a better understanding of how life itself works, and helps understand the molecular basis of human diseases.

Overview

Get A Master's In Cell And Molecular Biology

Graduate students and professors also develop medical and environmental technologies to improve the lives of people around the world.

Participating professors from the Biology program in the department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering and Sciences department create a dynamic program that provides a deeper understanding of molecular functions to help detect, prevent, and cure diseases.

Graduate students in the Cell and Molecular Biology program of the Florida Institute of Technology gain expanded expertise in such areas as DNA and protein purification, recombinant DNA technology, synthetic biology, biotechnology, genomics, bioinformatics, biopharmaceuticals, and more.

World Class Faculty

Experienced, doctoral level instructors mentor students working toward a master’s in cell and molecular biology. Florida Tech professors bring to the classroom both research and teaching experience in a wide range of areas related to the biological sciences that includes bacterial genetics and antibiotic discovery, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, gene modification, neurodegenerative disease, cardiovascular physiology and diseases, and plant/bacterial communication.

Programme Structure

  • The advisor assists the student in devising a program of study.
  • The latter requires approval by the Graduate Academic Steering Panel and the department head. The student must complete courses appropriate for the option. These can be chosen from the offerings of any academic unit in the College of Engineering and Science, and College of Psychology and Liberal Arts.
  • Students may register for no more than three credit hours of thesis each semester. Each student must present a departmental thesis seminar before graduation.
