The IDIA program at UB is fantastic. It gives you real world experience that leaves you with an extremely competitive portfolio before you're finished. They also support whatever research you want to do, if applicable. They are willing to support your ideas and help you attain your goals if you ask. It is a very challenging program, but I've found it very rewarding. It is also very affordable, comparatively. It isn't the easiest to be social with online classes, but you can make it work.
Cyber Security Program
As a former student at The University of Maryland University College (UMGC), I am thrilled to share my positive experience with their cybersecurity program. Let me tell you why UMGC stands out and why I wholeheartedly recommend it to potential students. Expert Faculty and Industry-Relevant Curriculum: UMGC boasts a team of experienced professors who are not only passionate about teaching but also actively engaged in the field. Many of them hold certifications like A+, CASP+, CEH, CISSP, and more. The courses are meticulously designed around industry-standard certifications such as A+, Sec+, CCNA, and Pentest+. This ensures that students gain practical skills that are directly applicable to real-world scenarios. Online Pioneers: UMGC has been teaching online longer than most universities. As someone who has been part of their online programs since 2019, I can vouch for their expertise in delivering high-quality education through virtual platforms. The flexibility of online learning allows students to balance their studies with other commitments, making it an ideal choice for working professionals and those with busy schedules. Cybersecurity Team and Competitions: UMGCs Cybersecurity team is exceptional. As the team coach, Ive witnessed our students excel in various competitions. These events not only provide networking opportunities but also enhance practical skills beyond the classroom. Imagine learning from professionals who work for organizations like the NSAUMGC makes this possible. The networking opportunities are invaluable. Career Prospects and Recognition: UMGCs cybersecurity degree holds weight in the industry. Its one of the two places where three-letter agencies pay close attention to new hires. Graduates have secured impressive positions globally, including landing jobs in Europe with competitive salaries. Caring Instructors and Supportive Environment: While the quality of instructors varies, Ive encountered professors who genuinely care about their students success. UMGC fosters a supportive environment where students receive coaching, career advice, and resume reviews. Its a place where you can grow both academically and professionally. In summary, UMGCs cybersecurity program combines expertise, flexibility, and practicality. Whether youre starting your career or aiming for advancement, UMGC equips you with the skills needed to thrive in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
