Student Life

Campus life

Located a mile and a half southwest of downtown Nashville, Vanderbilt is home to more than 300 tree and shrub varieties and was designated an arboretum in 1988. The oldest building on the original campus was constructed around 1859.

The Peabody section of campus has been a registered National Historic Landmark since 1966. Major off-campus facilities include the Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks.
