The URV was created in 1991 by the Parliament of Catalonia from the already existing university faculties and schools. In this way the Tarragona University of the 16th century was restored.
The range of academic programmes offer by the URV covers all fields of knowledge: engineering and architecture, arts and humanities, health, and social and experimental sciences. We offer a wide range of programmes including bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and doctoral programmes, as well as lifelong training programmes for professional development.
The University aims to promote all the research activities of its members and pays particular attention to the strengthening of groups, and the quality and the magnitude of its scientific production.

Living and studying abroad is a challenge for any student. This is why we have an International Center to help you with accommodation, health information, paperwork abroad and other services specifically for international students. We will help you feel at home from the very first day.
LIVING AT THE URV
We can help you find accommodation. We have two university residences in the city of Tarragona or, if you prefer, we can help you find a shared flat with other students.
Spain is one of the cheapest countries for students in Europe. The average cost of living, including accommodation, living expenses and transport, is 600-700 euros a month.
The Learning and Research Resource Centre (CRAI) on each campus
offers a wide range of services to make your learning easier. In addition to the library, we offer individual and group study spaces equipped with multimedia devices, guidance and material for learning languages and training to improve your computer skills and information management.
Managing the systems of information, the infrastructure and the services of communications of the URV, giving technical support for developing applications and optimizing the investment in technology, administering in a suitable way the risks and the opportunities associated to IT, the Computer and ICT Service provides for the University’s needs in the area of the information technologies.
In Catalonia health care is provided at CAPs (Primary Health Care Centers) and Hospitals.
The CAPs have fix opening hours and you will be assigned one depending on where you live. If you need to see a general practitioner, you should ask at your CAP to be assigned one.
If you have an urgent problem but it is not an emergency, the professionals at your CAP can receive you during the opening hours.
URV has 12 faculties and schools divided into 5 campuses among which you can use public transport and also to travel around the area easily.
What is more, the southern regions of Catalonia enjoy a high quality of life: medium-sized cities full of personality, a mild Mediterranean climate, sea, beaches, mountains and exceptional national landscapes such as the Ebro Delta, privileged cultural areas such as Roman Tarraco (a World Heritage site) or the Catalan Art Nouveau legacy in Reus, a wide range of leisure activities and an important communications network (port, airport, motorway and high-speed train).
EsportsURV is the URV's sports service. As well as looking after the university's sports facilities, EsportsURV organizes all sorts of sports course (tennis, yoga, basketball, swimming, sailing and many more)

This semester abroad has let me travel around europe which I really appreciate. I have met a lot of people and I can say that I made some friends. I could improve my language skills and started learning another one. I feel more self independent since I moved alone for the first time.
Perfect location close to barcelona, but still a little city, where it is quite cheap to live (rent a room), easy to get to know the city, lots of events and easy to stay in contact with friends
Most of my classes are much more practical than at my local university. I learnt about new technologies and the subjects are surprisingly interesting. You have to learn and prepare for the classes during the semester, not only at the end of it, which I think is beneficial. Shared flats are usually much cheaper than what the university offers, however, you can meet more...
