About

History

  • Acquired in 1906. State of Illinois issued charter that founded Loyola University Chicago in 1909
  • Serves as main residential and undergraduate campus; home to more than 3,000 students, and set along the shores of Lake Michigan

Loyola provides a Core Curriculum grounded in the liberal arts—a curriculum that encourages students to think critically, to express themselves clearly, and to discover meaning and purpose in life. The Core provides students with a well-rounded education while also giving them a chance to explore new interests

Campus life

Home to more than 40 buildings, including the 45,000-square-foot Joseph J. Gentile Arena; the Michael R. and Marilyn Quinlan Life Sciences Education and Research Center; Cudahy Library, the main University library; the Information Commons, a 72,000-square-foot, environmentally friendly annex to Cudahy Library that is Silver Level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified; the Silver Level LEED-certified Norville Center for Intercollegiate Athletics; 

Sports facilities

The Strength and Conditioning program at the Loyola University Chicago is a comprehensive system incorporating all aspects of athletic performance including strength development, injury prevention and nutrition. Our program is a long-term process involving the improvement of the fundamental physical qualities and skills that are necessary for competition. In short, Loyola Strength creates a transformative environment to build the complete athlete and prepare them to lead extraordinary lives.

Student clubs

Student Life and Engagement (SLE) consists of many departments and programs, such as student diversity, conduct, leadership, organizations, greek life, off-campus life, and ((dop)) (to name a few!) aimed at furthering the Division's mission of "offering programs and initiatives that aspire to provide leadership, support, and service to students."If you are looking for the offices at Loyola that ensure our campus is a vibrant, diverse, engaging, and fun place to learn and develop, then chances are you will find them among the offices of SLE!

My overall experience at this university has been positive. I have been able to explore various business disciplines different from my own major along with core classes that have broadened my knowledge on other issues. This university definitely prepares you to be well rounded in literacy and numeracy and encourages you to be involved. I wish that there were more resources...
