Overview
Our curriculum in Policy Studies at the University of Washington is designed on a cohort model with classes offered after 5pm two or three times a week to serve non-traditional students, including working professionals. We incorporate community partner projects to provide students with practical professional skills to advance your career while also serving local needs.

General requirements
- The UW Graduate School’s minimum requirements for admission include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) for the last 90 graded quarter credits or 60 graded semester credits. Applicants who do not meet the GPA requirement are encouraged to contact the IAS Graduate Office to discuss options for strengthening their application.
- The Policy Studies Admissions Committee evaluates prospective students’ overall likelihood of success in the program, with a focus on each applicant’s:
- Interest and motivation to pursue an issue or issues of public consequence or policy concern.
- Analytic skills, both quantitative and qualitative in nature
- Research experience, as demonstrated in academic, professional, civic or community contexts
- Indicated potential to contribute to a diverse learning community.
