When a child is raised in foster care, he or she often faces immense adversity and must develop resilience and adaptability in order to overcome the various challenges they may face. The Whitlock Law Hope and Opportunity Scholarship is designed to celebrate and support these resilient individuals as they transition into higher education.
Their scholarship is worth $1,500 and is offered to those who grew up in foster care and are now pursuing a college degree. Their goal is to empower these individuals to tell their stories and share how growing up in foster care impacted their lives.
College students interested in applying for our Spring 2025 Hope and Opportunity Scholarship are required to meet the following criteria:
Their application asks students to provide evidence of enrollment in an accredited college or university.
This may include unofficial transcripts, acceptance letters, class schedules, or something similar.
Additionally, all applicants must provide the requested contact information included in the application form.
For the next part of our application, we ask students to include a 500-word essay answering the following prompt:
Reflect on a specific challenge you faced while in foster care and how it contributed to your personal growth.
