The highly-ranked Public Administration program of Central Michigan University has been helping public service-minded leaders like you take the next step toward innovative leadership. Our practical courses, which can be completed online or face-to-face during evenings and weekends, provide a strong foundation for any public-facing administrator, whether in the government, private or nonprofit sectors.You'll gain skills and knowledge in how to manage employees, engage the community, design public budgets, analyze public policy and lead your organization toward a prosperous and sustainable future.
Our program is accredited by Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), the global standard in public service education.
Program Highlights
As an MPA student you'll have the opportunity to:
- participate in our program's own research entity, the Transnational Initiative on Governance Research and Education Network (TIGRE-Net).
- participate in management simulations sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea and NASPAA.
- apply to be a graduate assistant (on-campus students only.)
- complete an internship. Previous MPA students have interned for the City of Flint, Michigan, the Jimmy Carter Foundation, and the Isabella County Office of Emergency Management.

- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Along with the application, you’ll need to submit a $50 application fee
- Submit a copy of your passport
- Submit proof of English proficiency or your intent to study English upon arrival – unless you are from an exempted country where English is the primary language of instruction.
- You also may demonstrate English proficiency by completing the English studies program through CMU's English Language Institute.
- Applicants must provide a third-party course-by-course credential evaluation and document verification
