The Master’s in Translational Medicine (MTM) program at The City University of New York is an exciting collaboration between The Grove School of Engineering and The CUNY School of Medicine / Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program.

Overview

The mission of the Master’s in Translational Medicine at The City University of New York is to educate the next generation of leaders in medical technology innovation by bringing a new kind of graduate degree program to the rapidly growing New York City medical innovation landscape.

What you'll study

Many graduate-level medical innovation programs focus on only one aspect of the bridge from ‘bench to bedside’. Our program is unique in that we explore and examine all facets of the medical technology innovation process from ideation to prototyping to clinical evaluation. 

Our approach is one that is engaging for engineers, scientists, researchers and others with a STEM background. By completing a stimulating curriculum and challenging project that foster leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation, our graduates will be ready to create and develop the medical technologies that will change the future of healthcare. 

Curriculum

The comprehensive curriculum is meant to be completed in just one year with the central approach being integration of engineering, scientific, clinical exposure, and entrepreneurship training in a 3-semester interdisciplinary design-project experiential learning experience – the BioDesign Capstone project. 

By engaging faculty from across the campus, specifically the Grove School of Engineering and the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education/CUNY School of Medicine and collaborating with external partners, our students receive unparalleled training in the process of developing a medical technology and bringing it to market.

Career opportunities

MTM graduates will be uniquely positioned to successfully pursue those projects in industry, start-up or medical environments, and thus increase the rate at which scientific discoveries and technology innovations can be commercialized for broader clinical and societal use.
