About STEM Education at The University of Iowa
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are the building blocks of our future. In this increasingly complex world of technology and globalization, it is essential for today’s educators to equip the next generation with the fundamental skills to solve challenging problems, gather and evaluate data, and apply critical thinking skills to make sound decisions.
- The M.S. in STEM Education at the The University of Iowa is a collaboration between the Science Education and Mathematics Education programs. Candidates in the program simultaneously earn the M.S. in STEM Education while completing most of the requirements necessary to obtain the Iowa K-12 STEM Education Specialist endorsement (this endorsement is only for the state of Iowa). Candidates seeking the endorsement will need to complete additional coursework before applying to the Iowa BOEE.

- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited American College or university, or an equivalent degree from another coutnry as determined by the Office of Graduate Admissions
- A minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or the foreign equivalent
- Unofficial transcripts can be submitted for application review
- GPA of 3.0
- International applicants must also take the TEOFL exam with a minimum of 600 (250 computer-based test or 81 internet-based test) or a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (with no sub score lower than 6.0)
- Pay a $100 application fee
