Overview

You have the option to pursue an Illinois teaching license or add a bilingual endorsement and/or an ESL endorsement to your current license by taking additional courses. Classes are offered in the evening on the Lincoln Park Campus. The Bilingual-Bicultural Education (MA/MEd) program from DePaul University can be completed in two years as a full-time student.

The programme

You will work with experienced faculty like Assistant Professor Sonia Soltero, the chair of the Department of Leadership, Language, and Curriculum and former director of the Bilingual-Bicultural Education MA/MEd program. 

She has been involved in bilingual education for 30 years as an educator and researcher and is the author of three books on language education: “Dual Language Education: Program Design and Implementation,” “Schoolwide Approaches to Educating ELLs: Creating Linguistically and Culturally Responsive K-12 Schools,” and “Dual Language: Teaching and Learning in Two Languages.”
